Time to think, pray, discuss, and wait

Well here we are, well into September. Over a month has passed since the beginning of our journey. Thus far we have thought, prayed, discussed, and waited. Still unsure of where God was leading us.

Last week I started Bible Study at Bella Vista Church. I asked God to let me meet another woman who has adopted, and that exactly what he did. I was truly amazed when she introduced herself and shared that she had just adopted a little boy from Africa with her husband. How awesome is that! I am very excited to sit down with her and hear her story :)

Chris and I sat down today to figure out where we both were, and we came up with a plan:

1. Pray more
2. Start saving/fundraising
3. Wait until spring to start our homestudy

We decided to wait because we don't want to get into the situation of getting a referral while we are finishing our degree at Baker and have to travel to Ethiopia midway through a semester. Successfully finishing school is very important to us, and to the financial future of our family. Also, we have learned that timing can be very important when it comes to adoption since things like homestudies have a time stamp of sorts on them.

Yesterday we helped pack meals with Bella Vista Church for Feed my Starving Children. It felt great to spend time getting to know people from our new church and pack thousands of meals to feed hungry children. I wish we could do it every weekend.

School starts next week!! ahhhhh...
